Where is replace color in photoshop

In the top menu, select Windows, then Layers. To swap out colors, first you need to tell the computer what color you would like to adjust. The simplest way to do that is by selecting the hand tool within the adjustment layer panel, then clicking within the photo on the color you would like to swap before you click OK.

With the color selected, use the hue, saturation and lightness sliders to adjust the color. Hue will make complete color changes, while saturation effects how vivid the color is and lightness adjusts the shade of that color. The gray brackets in between the rainbow-colored sliders at the bottom illustrate what colors you have selected. By dragging the ends of the bracket, you can adjust what colors are included. The middle section of brackets are for the main color, while the outer brackets pick up a bit of the surrounding colors.

Select the object you want to change. The Quick Selection tool often produces good results. For additional techniques, see Select a color range and Select and Mask. The selection becomes a mask on the adjustment layer.

If the original color tints the new color, select Colorize, and readjust settings. See Adjust hue and saturation. Leave the Lightness setting at zero to maintain contrast. To maintain both contrast and saturation, select the Hue blending mode for the adjustment layer.

If necessary, enlarge or reduce the affected area by painting on the mask with white or black. See Edit a layer mask. For more information, see Adjustments panel overview. The Replace Color dialog box combines tools for selecting a color range with HSL sliders for replacing that color.

You can also choose the replacement color in the Color Picker. You may also find the adjustment layer technique easier for changing specific objects. However, the Replace Color command is good for global color changes—especially changing out-of-gamut colors for printing.

Displays the mask in the preview box. Masked areas are black, and unmasked areas are white. Partially masked areas areas covered with a semitransparent mask appear as varying levels of gray according to their opacity.

I also can not get this to work at all with black even when I click in the bottom color box. It seems like it will only do a gray scale. But Jeff, even with your tips,.. I u try to replace black with blue for example, it wont let you. It Only allows a few limited shades, mostly greys, hmm.

Nice short, but fast tutorial on the replace color tool. Thanks for putting this online for the rest of us. I am a website designer over at WebYabber. Thanks for this. I am also having trouble with black. It turns out there is much more white in the image than I first noticed and trying to change a black background to white resulted in no definition for a lot of the picture, totally washed out the image.

Very useful tutorial. However, I agree with Rush — trying to replace black with blue is a problem. The tool falls short here. This is nicely explained! Does this only work in CMYK? Are my settings wrong? Any help would be great…. Will no one answer the question about changing black to another color? I also have this problem. The way to change the black to another color is to click on the result color at the bottom and then change the color in the tool panel box that pops up.

I hope this helps. I found this to be my solution at least, however, it seemed my problem was too easy to solve so.. RAOK Random act of kindness. I only get a slider for lightness, which appears to do nothing. You can also click the color swatch to open the Color Picker if you prefer. Fuzziness controls the tolerance, or range of color close to what you sampled on, that will be replaced. With Preview checked, experiment with moving the slider to see how the color is affected in the image.

When satisfied, click OK. Because the layer was duplicated before changing the color, the color replacement could be refined further by masking or erasing selected portions of the duplicate layer. Looking to improve your Photoshop skills?
