Not sure about the boot lock thing as I opened mine with the key when the battery was already disconnected '00 XKR? I was told that was the point of having it as there is no other way into the boot if the battery is flat. Is there not a positive terminal in the bonnet for jump starting? Thanks all for your input. I am reliably informed that both the door and boot lock are mechanical so should work off the key.
WD40 here we come tomorrow! I am having the same problem. I can get into the trunk - inserting the key into the key hole of the Jag logo. But I cannot open the driver's door and, thus, can't step on the gas, to jump-start the battery. Even if you can't open either door due to mechanical problem in the locks either charge or replace the battery and then you should be back to normal and be able to unlock the doors by using the key fob. Unless you have a new - ish " smart charger " I would recommend disconnecting the battery before connecting the charger.

Did this well know problem originate with the redesign and what years is it a problem? Lets be careful here. The cars are VERY different, especially regarding the convertible top. There is actually a dedicated forum now on this site for the new XK. If the new battery has not solved your problem, I need to ask how often you drive the car?
If you do not drive it regularly, you may not drive it enough to replenish the standby drain on the battery. If you are continuing to have electrical problems with a new battery, and you are driving the car regularly, the first place to look on a XK is at the battery cables. They often go bad at the terminal to cable crimp at the battery. A quick check is to tun the car for a few minutes, with the radio and AC on and then carefully see if one or both of the battery cables has become very hot.
If so, replace that cable.
